One of the towering mountains that surround Banff is Sulphur. It’s famous for  having the Banff Gondola perched atop it’s peak, and consequently offers some of the best views of the surrounding valleys. The downside is that the hike up this sucker is pretty strenuous, the upside (yes these puns are real) is that the incredible exercise doubles as a great way to save money. To ride the gondola is $64 for an adult, to hike this mountain is free! Sounds like a win to me… You cool down quite quickly once you reach the top and the breeze takes care of the rest. Don’t worry, if you need refreshments there are cafes and restaurants atop the mountain… perfect for a guy or gal covered in sweat and needing to put their feet up.
My friend Lisa and I trekked this bad boy on a sunny afternoon and in between our bodies falling apart it was a beautiful day. The views at the top are well worth the pain on the way up…
