Today I experienced anonymity,
As I lay in the cool soft grass,
No one knew me,
Or where I was,
Where I was from,
Where I am going,
My name,
My native language,
The sound of my voice,
My story,
All but erased in those precious, peaceful moments in the sun,
I was a shadow basking in sunlight,
A figment of their imagination,
The blurred outline of who I was,
Who they thought I could be,
Peacefully etched into the grass beside me,
And as the wind and flowers danced alongside us,
I felt something profound,
Serenity in acceptance.
